(Crewe, 12 January 2018) Since its launch, the Bentley Bentayga (fuel consumption in l/100 km: City 19.0-9.4; Country 9.6-7.2; Combined 13.1-8.0; CO2 emissions (combined) 210-296 g/km)† has defined a new vehicle sector and set the benchmark for luxury SUVs. It offers the ultimate Grand Touring experience unrestricted by terrain or driving conditions. The award-winning Bentley model is now available in its sportiest guise yet - as the Bentayga V8 (Fuel consumption in l/100 km: City 15.6; Country 9.0; Combined 11.4; CO2 emissions (combined) 260 g/km)†.

Under the bonnet of the latest Bentayga variant is a new generation twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine that combines prodigious power with impressive fuel efficiency. In addition to the characteristic V8 sound, stylish "twin-quad" tailpipes and optional carbon ceramic brakes emphasise the sporty character of the luxury SUV.

The new V8 model, the heart of the Bentayga range, combines exquisite luxury with power, everyday practicality and compelling sportiness. Its power potential, available at any time, can be fully adjusted by the driver as required via Bentley's Driving Dynamics System: from the smoothness of a large saloon to the precision of a sports car.

Inside, Bentley remains true to its uniquely modern approach to luxury with the familiar blend of exquisitely handcrafted materials and advanced technologies. New design elements include a wood and leather steering wheel and, for the first time, a high-gloss carbon fibre finish for the interior trim.

Tremendous power, impressive efficiency

At the heart of the new Bentayga V8 is an all-new 4.0-litre, 32-valve V8 engine with twin-scroll turbochargers integrated into the engine's V-structure.

This engine develops 550 hp and 770 Nm of torque. It accelerates the vehicle to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 290 km/h.

The Bentayga V8's class-leading performance is complemented by a range of 746 km without stopping for fuel, with CO2 emissions of 260 g/km. Contributing to this improved efficiency (11.4 l/100 km combined) is the engine management system, which deactivates four of the engine's eight cylinders in appropriate conditions without compromising the driving experience. This seamless switching takes place in just 20 milliseconds, making the process imperceptible to the vehicle's occupants.

In addition, the automatic start-stop system, which can be activated even at extremely slow speeds, makes a positive contribution to emission levels.

This unique blend of power and refinement gives the Bentayga V8 a distinctive, unrivalled position in the luxury SUV market.

Impressive, individual exterior design

The Bentayga V8's body design reflects the model's sporting positioning within the Bentayga family.

The shape is defined by the Bentayga's familiar athletic, expressive lines and strikes a balance between sportiness and a distinctive road presence. From the four round LED headlights to the large matrix grille, Bentley design DNA can be read from every inch of the Bentayga V8. The concise powerline, powerful rear flanks and increased ground clearance emphasise the luxury SUV's rugged off-road capability.

For the first time, optional carbon ceramic brakes are available on the Bentayga. The braking system is not only the largest and most powerful system fitted to a Bentley to date, but also the largest front braking system used on a production vehicle.

The diameter of the brake discs is 440 mm at the front and 370 mm at the rear. The discs run in massive Bentley calipers with10 pistons at the front. Together they produce a maximum braking force of around 6,000 Nm.

The Bentayga V8 also debuts sporty red calipers for the front wheels, while standard cast iron brakes are used at the rear. Finished in a special heat-resistant Tornado Red paint, the calipers are a clear testament to the dynamic character of this performance-oriented Bentayga V8.

The calipers can be combined with a choice of eleven wheel designs, including an all-new 22-inch wheel with a black painted and polished finish.

Other subtle hints of the new engine specification include an imposing black and chrome grille at the front of the car and Bentley 'twin quad' tailpipes at the rear.

Finished, handcrafted luxury interior

The Bentayga V8 continues Bentley's interior tradition of intricate detailing, refined handcrafted precision and exquisite materials. Customers can choose hand-set cross-stitching to accentuate the design lines of the seats and door panels. In addition, for the ultimate in Bentayga flexibility, a four-, five- or seven-seat configuration can be chosen.

Three innovative interior options are available for the Bentayga V8: a high-gloss carbon fibre finish that replaces traditional wood veneer, a wood and leather steering wheel and leather in Cricket Ball, a new rich red hue.

For lovers of a modern technical ambience, a high-gloss carbon fibre finish is available for the first time in a Bentley. Bentley previously offered a matt finish in Carbon Fibre, replacing the veneer on trim components such as the dashboard, centre console and door mouldings. This finish is now also available in High Gloss, which enhances the technical look of the woven structure.

Another optional design element makes its debut in the Bentayga V8: the Wood and Leather steering wheel. This new three-spoke steering wheel is finished in wood veneer (seven different grades are available) and leather, and is the only one built on a solid wood base. This maintains the integrity and authenticity of the interior elements offered by Bentley.

The Cricket Ball leather colour makes its debut in the Bentayga V8. Inspired by the traditional and pleasing rich maroon of a polished cricket ball, this vibrant new hue perfectly joins Bentley's range of 15 interior colours and five colour combinations.

Effortless Bentley performance in every climate and terrain

The Bentayga V8 is equipped with Bentley's intelligent Dynamic Ride - the world's first active electric roll stabilisation based on a 48-volt system.
48-volt system. This system immediately counteracts lateral roll forces when cornering. This ensures maximum tyre contact with the road and delivers class-leading vehicle stability, ride comfort and handling.

Bentley's Adaptive and Reactive System provides variable torsional resistance. As a result, the Bentayga combines good driving dynamics with supreme comfort for all occupants at all times. The highly innovative 48-volt system responds silently and instantly to all road surfaces.

Thanks to the combination of an ultra-modern chassis and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), the Bentayga V8 delivers a ride comfort, steering feel and handling that are unparalleled in the class. In addition to the sophisticated multi-mode Traction Control System (TCS), the Bentayga also features Hill Descent Assist.

Another feature of the Bentayga is Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS). The new system enhances the driver's road feel, while still protecting against bumps in the steering both on and off road. The system features a variable steering ratio that allows light, quick steering movements when manoeuvring at low speeds and more subtle responses to steering movements at higher speeds, providing excellent stability.

Thanks to Bentley's Driving Dynamics Mode and the optional All-Terrain Specification, the Bentayga offers the most comprehensive range of on-road and off-road driving settings. With up to eight modes - four for paved roads and four off-road modes - an easy-to-use dial allows you to select the perfect dynamic suspension set-up for any surface or road condition.

The All-Terrain Specification allows appropriate vehicle settings to be selected for a variety of terrains, such as snow and grass, earth and gravel, mud & trails, and sand dunes. In addition, the Driver Information Display shows data such as pitch and roll angle, axle articulation, steering angle, compass bearing and altitude.

The Bentayga V8 is equipped with an air suspension system that offers a range of settings. The driver can choose from four different modes: High 2, High 1, Normal and Low. High 2 mode, for example, can be selected manually when driving in more difficult terrain. A switch in the boot can also be used to lower the rear axle suspension to make loading, unloading and attaching a trailer easier.

Hill Descent Control automatically regulates vehicle speed on steep slopes, allowing the driver to concentrate fully on steering and obstacles ahead. The assistant can be preset to speeds between two and 30 km/h (forward as well as reverse) and works on gradients of more than five per cent.

Innovative features and cutting-edge technologies

A range of sophisticated driver assistance systems and infotainment features designed to enhance safety and comfort make the Bentayga V8 an innovative, advanced and connected luxury SUV.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go, Predictive Cruise Adaptation and Traffic Assist helps maintain a set distance from the vehicle in front. Predictive Cruise Control uses navigation data, sensors and cameras to anticipate upcoming junctions, city limits and changes in speed limits: the system can automatically adjust vehicle speed accordingly, benefiting comfort and fuel economy.

For city driving, too, the Bentayga V8 offers a range of systems to assist the driver. These include Traffic Sign Recognition, which recognises and displays information on a wide range of road signs; Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which uses radar technology to detect vehicles crossing the road when reversing out of a parking space; and Top View. This system uses four cameras to display an overall picture of the vehicle's surroundings. Together, these systems provide increased everyday usability.

A parking assistant is also available, which recognises suitable parking spaces (lengthways as well as crossways) and then automatically parks the vehicle.

Other innovative systems include Night Vision, which uses infrared technology to detect potential obstacles, and a Head-up Display, which improves driver concentration and safety.

The Bentayga's 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system boasts class-leading navigation technology, a 60GB hard drive and a choice of up to 30 languages. Rear passengers benefit from the newly introduced Bentley Entertainment Tablet, a removable 10.2 inch Android device with 4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth that provides effortless high-speed internet connectivity on board.

There are also three different audio systems to choose from for the Bentayga V8: Bentley Standard Audio, Bentley Signature Audio and Naim for Bentley Premium Audio. The Naim system features 1,950 watts of power, 18 speakers and super tweeters that deliver unrivalled reproduction of the highest sound frequencies. This makes it the most powerful audio system in the entire vehicle segment.
